what's your budget like?...is there any one to finance you?....is making lithium polymer ion sound ok? I can provide the know-how and related formulation...off-course there's fee to it. If you were to acquire license from one of technology provider its gonna cost you around USD 1.5M to USD 2.0M...but I can give you very much cheaper together with manufacturing experience and knowledge as such there's not gonna be a lot struggling to get processes stabilized

i can be reached at sufi3257@tm.net.my

some thing like 2 lac usd

Does this mean that you too lack US$? It is hard to understand what you are after but I can tell you that it is very risky to find product/business the way you are searching. How can anyone tell if you are for real. Please give more details about your self and the investor and I could have something for you. You better be prepared to spend some $US on legal/patent/contracts and other standard business procedures, other wise I see no chance in your success.

Good luck devarsh.

Good machine shops are always in demand, but it is very capital intense to start up, you will need a couple of CNC lathe's at about USD $300K to $600k and a couple of machining centers $500K and up, at least one good CMM at $200K and up, computer systems, quality systems, accounting systems, sales, people to find the business, and the list goes on and on.

As I see it, your biggest problem is you don't know how much you don't know. If I had a bucket of money and didn't know what to do, as it seems to me you don't, I'd purchase an existing business, as the people running that business at least knows the problems they face everyday. Maybe you can step in and fix there problems and turn the business around.

I completed my MBA a few years ago, (Masters in Business Admin.) and one of my professors said that some business fail not because the engineer who started the business didn't know engineering, but he didn't understand business.

I guess he was saying, before you go out and start a business, you should understand your weakness' or as I like to say, find out how much you don't know.

Dear Devrash,

Your are an Engineer but of what discipline, what experience you are having and what is your aptitude and interest towards the object no one can guess. However, you just think very high, plan for high but start with small. As you gain experiences, it will force you to grow. Avoid big start at beginning if you are new in the field. Putting CNC machines etc will not sort the problems of manufacturing but will increase your investment. Don't worry workshop supports are available in plenty.

Think about energy efficient products at small scale industry such as CFL, LED dependent light source, Solar energy etc are in good demand.

All the best.

There may be an opportunity that meets your specs. Please provide personal background information, location, local labor rate, space availability and cost.

Que fácil es la vida, si yo tuviera la contestación a tu pregunta sería multimillonario. Lo único que te digo, es que lo que hagas, hazlo con amor y perseverancia.

Re: What to Manufacture?

Devarsh

You are going about this backwards. Don't begin with the product. Begin with its attributes and derive the product.

Begin with your strengths and weaknesses.

Add in your desires for service to humanity.

Add in things that you think are required in the world.

What kinds of things fit into all of the above categories?

  • Think about ways to market things to consumers that you are capable of doing.
  • Who will be served by your product/service?
  • What makes the product or service attractive?
  • How will you deliver the end products to your customers?

When you have asked enough questions and come up with enough answers, the product or service you will produce will hopefully make itself obvious to you, and importantly, remain interesting and give you satisfaction for a long time.

Mark

Hello Devarsh,

It sounds like: When do I start... so I can retire ASAP! For business opportunity look around your environment, looks for the needs of your community, your town, or local manufacture. Peoples has the tendency to look in the neighbour's backyard, ignoring the potential of their own backyard!

Ask questions around you and more important LISTEN and PROBE for information...you will find products or services you can provide better than anybody else... you are the local guy after all! Once you know you have a local demand ask yourself if the service or technology can be exported and if you really want to go thru.. the whole process.

Sometimes the best job/project/product... is the one you refuse to consider because there's no glamour, not big enough for your ego, look too easy to do etc...

I am not saying not being ambitious... start with good solid bases and then you can build a strong building. A little bit of luck with LOTS AND LOTS of hard work should take you where you are looking at... Never know you might be the next Bill Gates,...

Hope to meet you one day at a conference you will be the speaker!

Hi, one thing I would really like mass produced--really mass produced--is solar panels. They should be flexible and able to be rolled up. They should be tough enough to be used to cover building roofs. They apparently won't be silicon based based on present research.

You should produce Building Ceramic materials like Wall & Floor tiles. In the near future India will experiment the same consumption " boom " like China with new housing and rehabilitation projects.

All raw materials are available in Indian and manpower is still very competitive.

Contact ceramconsult@netvisao.pt

Hi Ji,

What engineer are you? Which part of india are you? Are U working somewhere or doing what? Try EDI Ahmedabad and they are organising courses for people like you. I hope this should help you. Why don't u look around you and see what Others are doing to make money.

Dear Devrash, What is your location - state & city / town? U mentioned u r an engineer - which stream - mechanical / electrical / electronics etc? Do you have any product in mind as such or a brief interest in what u exactly want to do or work with for the rest of your life? Well for your information I am from Mumbai and basically into TOUGHENED GLASSES for the process industry [chemical, fertilizer, petrochemcial, soap, paper etc] and am also into marketing of various valves & flameproof & weatherproof equipments. I do have some other mechanical engineering products in mind for manufacturing and that is the reason for my 2nd question. U could contact me directly on my cell phone number - 9324246431 or alternately at raseshvakil@yahoo.com or raseshvakil@hotmail.com.

Hi Devarsh,

Setting up a manufacturing unit ! OOh you sounded like an engineer and not surprised you are.

Business world is quite different from engineering world. Suprisely, I am an engineer. The soul of any business starts with a NEED i.e a genuine thirst by individual, group, community to have a service or product and it could be an improvement in a service or product.

But the main question every enterpreneur or investor would want to ask is " Is any body paying for this service or product? Please spend your time to answer this question.

If you want to start a manufacturing unit for the pleasure of it, there are more than a million items you can start with. Conversely if it tend to satisfy a genuine need of your market, then ask yourself the above question.

Wish you the best.
