It would be unlikely for the Dutch State Railway system to have its own proprietary threads.

It is an old term used around the US for as long as I can remember (my kids think I am older then dirt) for "National Standard Threads".

This reminds me of my first exposure to the NPSF thread designation. I still wonder at the idea of a straight pipe thread. The term oxymoron comes to mind. Someone out there with a rational explanation of this particular thread?

I believe that this refers to a "special" thread, one out of the NF, NC or other classifications for diameter and pitch. For exanple a 9/16-30 thread would be clasified as NS
