Here it is.

Pretty neat trick. I'll remember it if I'm in a hurry. I still like to soak mine and cook it on the grill.

Hopefully, you are simply substituting the grill for the microwave. Try the same finishing cut off of the large end and remove from the husks. Would be interested in the end result whatever that might be.

I'll give it a try. Corn season is over here though, so it'll be next summer.

Maybe you should have admin modify your thread title a little, so people have some indication of what it's about. They'll do it. I've goofed on titles before.

you can use a compressed air jet to blow the silk off, in an industrial setting, as the cobs are turned..

How do you get a compressed air jet inside the microwave?

Everybody knows that the best way is to dig a canal, fill with water, load corn on transport cars, immerse in water and give a quick shake to remove the silk.

Couldn't help myself.

In the spring on Okla. the dug canals is full of plastic bagged airplanes. Do we widen the canal, plastic bag the simi's or try to keep the motor runing while we disconnect the trailer, so many problems, so little time..

first off... you two.... it isn't the corn that goes on the rail cars.. its the mobile homes (rednecks and all). The corn is what we want the tornado to clean up... so we leave that outside. (tied down with very small bungee cords of course)

as to which gets saved.. the airplane or the mobile homes or whatever..... hmmm I dunno.

Neat idea! I'll have to give it a try next summer when the corn is ready again for harvest!!!

Still boil our corn here or use the pressure cooker to cook it thoroughly....

Re: Problem in Engineering/Physics Or Floss Free Sweet Corn

I talked with a gentlemen since Saturday who said an old timer showed him the same trick over twenty years ago to do the same thing without a microwave. Simply place the ears as picked in enough boiling water to cover them and remove from heat. Cut off stalk end and remove a silk less ear ready for butter and eating!

Back in the '60s I was attending a barbeque when a 4 year old lass came running into the house with an ear of corn exclaiming "Momma!! Momma!! My cowin is gwoin haiw!!"

translation: My corn is growing hair...

Evidently someone didn't get the silk off.
