What does the contract say?

What does the specification say?

What does the motor supplier say?

What does the safety officer say.

It depends upon the certification of the motor terminal box, an indication of which is absent from the original post.

Is it time to hire someone locally who knows about these things?

Generally speaking there is no requirement that I know of...only that the cable gland connectors and gland itself be in compliance with the particular code designated for motor and cable installation zone....

It depends upon whether the motor manufacturer also makes cable glands, perhaps?

The motor manufacturer probably doesn't know the type and size of cable that will be used, and hence not the i.d. of the gland assembly that will be needed.

Yes it is necessary to fit explosion proof glands. In case of ordinary gland the gas can leak inside the motor housing and can cause explosion.

The cable gland is not provided by the motor vendor, however they provide the size of the hole of the cable entry, either in inch (NPT thread) or mm (metric thread). The glands are procured separately. Selection of the appropriate gland is the part of engineering. The selection of the glands depends on the type of cable (armuored or unarmuored), overall dia and inner dia of the cable, number of conductors, area classification, gland materials etc. If the selected gland doesn't fit to the entry hole size, use an adapter or reducer of appropriate size and type.

generally the specification for cable box needs to be metioned with ur connection of nos and size of cable to supply the cable box to enable the suitable cable glands connectivity for connection of cables to be used. U may use cable gland shrouded after fixing of cable glands with cable .
