Do yourself a very big favor, get a good local soil engineer and a reputable local mason contractor involved. They are specialist on the local soils and requirements. They know what you want and many other things you don't know that you need to know.

No comment about anyone in particular but most of the participants in this forum are not soil and construction engineers familiar with you location. I will be the first to admit I am not. My specialty is on the sweaty and working end of a shovel or backhoe. Go to the professionals who know. It will greatly reduce your nervousness and reduce your intake of Valium. It will also produce a better house.
