Better Batteries Coming

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard this....................................................

Tomorrow, someone will have solved the battery problems "for all time', or until next week.

True, but batteries will have to improve big time for electric cars and other devices powered by batteries to develop further. At present, battery powered cars are in limbo and are at risk of ever being a reality.

The way technology in general is advancing, batteries may get there, someday.

Or, maybe some other form of energy???

Lead acid will never work, not enough energy density/weight. I keep watching this area, I'm still cheering for zinc-air the day Will come!

Yep. 20 years ago you could expect at least 7 - 10 good working years out of basic NiCad battery pack.

Now most can't it past the one year warranties before they start having capacity and charging problems.

If this is the same battery advancement that goes into modern electric vehicles I can see why they still aren't worth crap.

I was just talking about the power they get into the batteries.

But yeah...all of the wonderful technology in the world won't matter, if all they do is build and sell crap, to keep the investors happy.

I understand everyone's skepticism - I feel the same. It's taking an awful long time to get what we need for a practical all-electric vehicle.

I am new to the membership forum but have been following and finding great value for a couple of years. I went back to school just about 2 1/2 yrs ago(after better than 23 yrs after College) for Clean Energy Technology, am almost done with my degree and yes, battery technology has come a fair distance and has still more to go. We are seeing great strides every day.

Is there any truth to the Lead reserves being depleted or gone?

It's folks like you and others like us that are helping make this happen. I will keep reading and watching and hope to contribute valuable information to this forum.
