DC Current Applied to the Temple Increases IQ

12/04/2014 12:18 PM

If you do a search you will find articles on this. Scientific American has published articles on how it improves learning.

My question is: Where are the products?

Actually this is so new, and potentially unfair for those that don't have it. But the current is supposed to be below the threshold of sensation, I think. It has been too long since I heard about this. I need a product that will improve my memory in an instant. There are so many files in my brain, I usually can't find what I want as fast as other people. But, I frequently retain things longer than my colleagues. I guess one would call that a trade off.

I would test this myself if I had more information. I suspect the polarity may be important. Oh, OH!! What if I had it backwards and it made me dumber?

Actually, I don't think it works that way. Let's see, I've got a nine volt battery and a battery clip..... Minus (i think) to the temple, plus to the tongue.....

Larger currents applied to the temple dramatically decreases IQ.

No thanks. I have not researched this very much. I'm still waiting for someone to develop a honest medical device. Once something like this is announced, it is already too late to start development because it will always be a game of catch up.

I predicted in 2006 that the 4 foot T8 LED replacement for fluorescent lamps would nearly wipe out the fluorescent lamp industry. I only got my first LED replacement for the T8 lamps yesterday. They have been out there for a while, but I didn't go out of my way to find one. Now I have a couple to test. My crystal ball needs a new battery as well.

That just refers to the "probes" - earlobe clips with saline-soaked pads.

Here's the website of the company selling the whole kit:

http://alphastim-uk.org/index.html

They say it's for relief from anxiety, pain and insomnia (no mention that I could see of any effect on memory or IQ).

No idea whether it works, but I suppose it may. TENS seems quite highly rated.

Too bad SciAm doesn't test this on themselves; we might get better articles as a result.

The May 2014 issue of IEEE Spectrum has an article (page 24) on "transcranial direct current stimulation" (tDCS) that sounds like what you are discussing. They claim it gives a "creativity boost."

As for manufacturers, check this out - it's the brand mentioned in the Spectrum article.

Combined with some of those copper or magnetic bracelets you will become physically fit, and most brilliant! Go for it, and let us know how it works out...if you can still type that is.

On one hand, the total sum of intelligence in the world is given and constant. On the other hand, the number of people in the world, is steadily increasing.

Applying AC or DC current to the temples (or elsewhere), cannot (and will not) change the total amount of intelligence available, as divided by the number of intelligent entities present at any given time.

To be serious you can try Turmeric, Coconut oil, Hemp oil, The brain needs nutrition just like other body organs.. Do some google research.. St. John's Wart is used in Europe instead of drug company antidepressants so it may help. The omega's are essential but keep the 3 about 3 x the 6. I hope you remember to let me know how it works.

Re: DC Current Applied to the Temple Increases IQ

During my scholarly educational years, I found that the only way to increase my intelligence was to go to a certain type of establishments and meditate while consuming certain liquids with limited access. Since chemicals were part of my future this was appropriate. Those establishments and the chemicals included:

The Brass Grille- Stroh's in fish bowls

The Point- Bud and watered down cocktails. I also tended bar there.

The Raptas Café- Anything because I dated their daughter.

The Casa Loma- Any brand in a bottle. Broken bottles made good defensive weapons at this bucket of blood.

Organic and Advanced Inorganic Labs- Cologne Spirits (95% Ethanol) watered down with soda (pop).

Really don't know if I became more intelligent but it certainly helped me feel that way.

Good Luck, Old Salt

Reminds me of 'smart pills' I found on a boy scout campout, when another boy asked me what they were, I told him. When he asked for one, I let him have one...he said he could feel no difference, could he have another? I held out my hand and he tried another. After a bit of contemplation, he said " ya know, these taste like sh**" and I said "see, they're working already".

Simply " Use it or Lose it". If you exercise your brain there will be greater retention. Watching re-runs of Storage Wars does not count.

Re: DC Current Applied to the Temple Increases IQ

A cousin of mine had a migraine one time and decided to try a home remedy that was along these lines. Her husband had an old field telephone generator that he used from time to time for fishing (oops, I probably shouldn't have said that!!) and she had her son attach the two leads to her temples with tape. He cranked the handle one good turn and it actually knocked her out of her chair. It cured her headache but she hasn't been quite right ever since - she wasn't wasn't much better before so this probably isn't much of a gauge. The magneto in the field telephone produces AC current so maybe we can assume that the DC current in question would produce the opposite effect.

Phychiatrists may still use the technique to temporarily disrupt memory. It was certainly used between the 1940's and it may not be completely out of the picture.

Oh, and it was AC not DC. I know because my mum was a psychiatrist.

About the time I found the 'smart pills' I told another scout to pee on an electric fence...not sure what it did for his intelligence, but as far as memory enhancement, I'll bet he still remembers today even through the fog of senior moments.

Some interesting "technology", straightforward and unpatentable, claimed to do EXACTLY that, not long ago, but EVERYTHING about it suddenly "disappeared" from the face of the earth WITHOUT TRACE, and all you can find now about it, is hijacking spam trash. Ever heard of alpha learning and Sean Adam, that supposingly applied it on himself and broke some records in reading and comprehension speeds? Not that I believe that a world with more smart people would be any more functional than this one. Exactly the opposite applies. (LOL). S.M.

I googled Brain Zapper as I remembered the name with out using a 9V battery to my head. Over 300,000 pages and many articles by main stream publications. I use a frequency generator for health issues and have no problem recommending same to others but the manufacturer does not want customer to use it on the head. Of course this device is much stronger it actually has 20 Volt potential.

I have inside information that a government is proposing a project that involves the earth's magnetic field, held stationary in relation to a fixed point in space while the earth continues to rotate. This will induce currents in the brain that will be for the benefit of all mankind.

Me thinks this could be the direct learned result from cowboys using cattle prods on each other and law enforcement personnel using tasers to subdue unruly clients.

It has been proven that most recipients of DC voltage especially anywhere near the cranium instantly gain enough in their IQ level that they do everything possible to avoid repeating the process.

LOL! One of my buddies was out late into the night hiking and he forgot there was an electric fence about 20 yards from where he parked at the trail head.

He had the sudden urge and "let-r-rip" apparently right on the fence.

He said he woke up 2 hours later lying on his back looking at the stars, didn't know where he was or what happened, got up off the ground and walked right into the fence.

He uses a forehead light when hiking anywhere at night now.

It was definitely not his day and we still have not let him forget it.

After all; What are buddies for?
