Well, most gauges of shotguns are blued steel, intended to be a rust inhibitor.

Is there perhaps another meaning of gauge that you or your instructor are interested in?

On gauge blocks and limit gauges, corrosion would most certainly render them inaccurate, eh?

Exactitude... in measurement as in communication. Perhaps polish both of these tools for better, more reliable results.

What an excellent sentence to type into an internet search engine, such as Google. Do let the forum know the outcome.

You get the right answer by finding it yourself.

Expecting others to furnish your answers to you is a sure sign of a failure waiting to happen.

From your own profile.....

I want to polish myself and always be remembered in good books .

You need to at least perform your own basic research first before asking us. Bad habits now will result in bad habits latter on in your career and pictures of us in those books instead.

Pressure gauges.

Marking gauges.

Feeler gauges.

Wire gauges.

Track gauges.

Temperature gauges.

Thickness gauges.

Nope. I just don't get it.

I'm a big fan of WD-40. Works with many to most gauges.

Surely a student of BSC Industrial Engineering at Punjab University, Lahore Pakistan can operate a search engine.

I believe that you can because you found this obscure web site, populated by very intelligent people, most of whom got that way by doing their own homework.

As has already been explained "gauges" has dozens of meanings.

Johansson gauges can be finished to a tolerance of ±0.05 μm.

These are created by grinding and lapping.

So, go back to the books and find out what grinding and lapping are.

Extra credit will be given if you can describe "wringing" as well.

More information required.

Are we discussing screw gauges or sheet metal gauges?

What sort of limit gauges?

These come in lots of different flavours depending on what you want to limit.

Are you asking about railroad track gauge? In the US it is 4' 8-1/2", 1,435mm. In India they use four different gauges: 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) Broad Gauge; 1,000 mm (3 ft 3-3/8 in) Metre Gauge; 762 mm (2 ft 6 in) Narrow Gauge; and 610 mm (2 ft) also Narrow Gauge.

No, there is no direct railroad lines from the US to India. That negates the need for the US gauge in India.

Good Luck, Old Salt

Probably anodized. Especially if the Gauge housing is aluminum.

I worked with old school model makers 40 years ago and was amazed when one of them showed me how to use Jo blocks, and pin gauges.
