Our enginers went to China to get cheep labor! Blame our Government for Taxing them too much, and tough to get permits, e.t.c.

Can't blame Government entirely... LOOK AT THE FOREGN CARS ON OUR ROADS; EVEN IF THEY ARE MADE HERE! Loyalty to this country is lost!

My Toyota Camry has the highest percentage of "American Made" of all vehicles sold in the US. Ford's best selling vehicle is made in Mexico. I consider myself more loyal than a Ford owner.

Our own Govt. set up the economic circumstances that forced or factories to compete in a land where the labor cost nearly nothing. Also add to that the Free Trade Agreements that are engineered to attack one industry or another,

Doing all of this was supposed to bring a massive silver lining to the USA but instead it victimized middle class jobs and all of manufacturing. No one can retool a factory with the offset cost being to contract somewhere in China. The steady and continuing degrading of our manufacturing base will continue unless it Govt. stops and reverses the mistakes.

I have heard that argument," are you willing to pay more for products if we bring jobs back from China"? The answer is, the investor class profited by building China while the working class was victimized by the process. So my answer is Yess. Our own economic cycle was broken and now there are no jobs to pay for our own social programs.

Like Cher said,"If I Could Turn Back Time". The best time to fix something is now and with a first step like tariffs to China and elsewhere. Then a second step of stopping the rewarding experience of sending jobs outside the USA by taxing the rewarding experience. Bring jobs back with a draconian pursuit.

Europe shares out problem too.

The problem is taxes. The US has the second highest corporate taxes in the world. Our way of life costs money so tax everything including imports.

I worked for a manufacturing company (now bankrupt) and our accountants wanted to out source parts because it was cheaper than making them in our own shop so our shop was only working one shift instead of three shifts. The problem was that we still had all the same overhead which had to be added on to the cost of the parts that we made and we were making fewer parts. To compare costs you have to spread the overhead over all the parts that come in from outside suppliers as well as parts made in house.

The problem is that if you increase tarrifs then you get your trading countries retaliating by raising tarrifs. So what, we are not exporting to China but that is not free trade (I am not in favour of free trade).

Why not reduce corporate taxes and increase sales taxes on all goods, including machinery that companies buy from oversees. Luxuary items should have a higher tax. In The Bahamas cars are taxed at 100% but food is not. How many familie have more than one vehical or vacation homes and recreation vehicals.

The problem is that people would revolt if the sales tax went up that much. So reduce income tax also. I would also tax banks.

The people who actually produce something should be the wealthiest people in society not the civil servants. That includes the actual farmers not the big business that ownes the mega farms. A country needs to be able to feed it's own people.

Absolutely not time to "copy" China unless you want slave wages, filthy air and water, middle men called agents to be paid for allowing you to do business and fascism. Greed is the problem. End private funding of campaigns (especially foreign contributions) and actually make it feasible for third party candidates to run and you'll see common sense and loyalty return to our "representatives." Slap import duties on Chinese imports to offset sweat shop labor, manipulation of currency and no environmental protection and watch the factories return. U.S. citizens also need to support U.S. products. Ross Perot was right.
