RIM is in dire straits. This week it announced it would suffer an operating loss and suspended its shares on the Nasdaq. Here's what you need to know before market open.
I plead ignorance in numerous arenas, and modern phone services is certainly one of them.
[article] "RIM has two areas: its smartphone sector and its data infrastructure. A BlackBerry is useless without the data infrastructure, meaning if RIM goes bust and fails to sell its data networks, more than 78 million people will suddenly lose service."
So, even tho' my Blackberry Bold was purchased through (and 'service' being paid for to) AT&T ... it could cease to function ("on AT&T service") if RIMs own networks failed to be purchased upon their collapse?
How does that work? Does AT&T currently pay RIM part of what *I* am paying to them for service each month to keep my 'waves' airborne?
"Whatever"... (guess I'd better check to see if the old Motorola RAZR will still hold a charge)
