Teacher to student.

"This is why one second of arc at the beginning IS important!!!!"

Student to teacher.

"This was a digital rounding error, we should have used twelve significant digits instead of five."

Project manager to Engineer.

Well from what they both say, it's a resolution issue, I'll put that into my lessons learnt folder and move onto the nuclear reactor, you guys can obviously fix this.

Judging by all the replies, this must be a engineering topic that comes pretty close to not being funny to most engineers! Like watching someone getting kicked in the 'nads. We all know that we might be in that same hot seat on the next project unless we make sure all the details are spot on.

We're not quite like the other workers...we can't blame someone else for a detail snafu, cause we are expected to take care of the details....right down to the 10th decimal place. Its where the engineer either makes the boss look good (never mind that the boss rarely remembers who made him look good). In the cockups, the engineer becomes the engine-ear doofus who goofed something up or the enginerr crapface who forgot to carry the "1".

Jon.
