Hackers Backdoor the Human Brain, Successfully Extract Sensitive Data

Posted August 18, 2012 12:19 PM

From ExtremeTech:

With a chilling hint of the not-so-distant future, researchers at the Usenix Security conference have demonstrated a zero-day vulnerability in your brain. Using a commercial off-the-shelf brain-computer interface, the researchers have shown that it's possible to hack your brain, forcing you to reveal information that you'd rather keep secret.

What "commercial off-the-shelf brain-computer interface"? A keyboard?

10 years ago, I'd have scoffed at this.

Today, I'm not so sure this won't happen.

I'm not sure that someday, we won't have implanted computers in our head.

Yeah, the movie "Brainstorm" was enjoyable.

Awwww, not the P300 again! Last time, the researchers wanted to use it to prove people were guilty of something, cause they pee-three-hundered at some piece of intel.

From the article I quote "... in general the experiments had a 10 to 40% chance of success of obtaining useful information..".

Ain't that the same as a 60-90% failure rate?

There are easier ways of finding out where a person banks.

How long before the hack can be performed remotely? If information can be extracted, could commands be implanted?

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
