Lawn Darts Are Back, Deadlier Than Ever

Posted March 30, 2009 11:23 AM

From Gizmodo:

Lawn Darts were a game from a simpler, more naive time. Sure, they could embed themselves in your little sister's head just as easily as the lawn, but they were fun. Now they're back. They're back thanks to the unfortunately named Jarts In Your Heart web site, which sells the banned items thanks to a little bit of legal gymnastics. You see, since lawn darts (or "Jarts" as they're known here) transform so easily from an innocent backyard game into deadly weapon depending on who's holding them, Jarts In Your Heart has to sell the plastic fins and metal tips separately. Sad. The total package is $65.

They just did'nt turn deadly, they always were.

Accoutant one: "What are were going to do with all this recalled lawndarts, that we had to pull from the market."

Accoutant Two: "Hold on to them for a couple years, Repackage them, then sell them as Jarts"

Automotive CEO one: "How are we going to get the government bailout money"

Automotive CEO two: "Do what the accountants did with the lawn darts"

Automotive CFO: "Good Idea, Retention Bonuses all around"

Senate oversite commitee: "I see your all are on the right track to turn this company around"

Ahh, the good old days when you could play "chicken" with the kid next door! Roman candles were another favorite.

Just call me an old lunatic!

The world has gone mad...kids throw stones...must ban stones.
Assuming the $ price implies they are for sale in the USA...Isn't this just bonkers...?
A country where every loony has a gun...they ban plastic darts!
Now where's my longbow..I'll show you 'darts'...

What do you mean "a" gun?! Where I'm from, you're considered a "loon" if you only have one! My first cousin had his first rifle when he was 9, a chipmunk .22 he was given that because he wanted an air rifle and my uncle decided to just skip the in between!

I always thought lawn darts were a lot of fun, ah well...simpler times...kids weren't afraid of their neighbors and stayed out riding bicycles up and down the road until it was dark, and then the sweet taste of an RC cola and a moonpie! Life's been good and things sure have changed.

Jarts In Your Heart? Sharp Sticks in Your Eyes? Small Discs with Points Stuck in Your Scrotum? And the all time: M80s in Your Bathtub.

No end to the bloody fun!

What about ChainSaw to the Neck?

Really you can't make this stuff up.

Remember the old Lawn Darts?

Jarts are Sharper, and penetrate deeper!

In fact We, at Jarts, have purchased from the US Military the newest Neutron Bomb Time Delay Exploding Jarts: perfect for mole, vole, snake, and rabbit hole warren destructo Fun!

See it to believe it!

You know some places there just aren't enough things laying around to throw around.

I've not got a single horseshoe in the house.

I really do need some Jarts.

In fact what I really need is a spaceship, or a B 52 to crash in the yard, so I can sell the litter for scrap, or charge for viewing of the green bodies.

What's next as a catchy marketing phrase?

Poison for People!

Remember the Good Old Days When you Rode your bike behind the DDT Truck? Good times are back!

Better than ever.

Mustard Gas Mayhem cartridges for your 50 cal. Spatball really satisfy the guy that really likes to get out an play.

There simply is no end to serious fun possible with deadly toys. P.S. Just having fun.

Hhumm. I knew a guy who works at jarts in the heart, and and and He used to work in the defense industry as a weapons designer, was laid off in the 90's, and the government spent million on retraining workers who were effected from all the military budget cuts. How ironic.

I don't think it's the darts (Jarts) that are the issue. It's the idea of, under instruction of the game, wandering out into the back yard and pitching this thing up into the air to see where it comes down. HA! HA! It's hilarious and ridiculous all at the same time!!!

BTW-if lawmakers had their way, we would all be wearing hard hats and oven mitts 24/7.

Re: Lawn Darts Are Back, Deadlier Than Ever

Yes world it is your job to protect me from my self having fun, nothing like a good ole repressive bureaucracy to make you hate life.

Out of all the lawn darts, pitching horse shoes, shooting guns from the age of 4, bows and arrows from suction cup to carbide tipped, pocket knives from the time we could whittle without loosing fingers, BB guns, Polish cannons, spud guns, carbide cannons, riding horse sometimes for days, working and with all sorts of lethal farm equipment not one of my very large family (on both sides) has ever lost an eye or finger, or life for that matter. In fact most of us are banged up in car wrecks but no missing parts.

The problem is the world is not safe and stupid people get hurt and hurt others. The problem is if you remove all danger then they don't get any wiser. You learn more from mistakes than success. That hurt so I won't do that again. Do you let a 6 year old play with a gun un supervised? Is a lawn dart any less deadly in the worst situation? An arrow can have more ft lbs of force than a bullet. Just try to stop one with a bullet proof vest.

So by all means keep the people stupid to protect them from themselves.

It all comes down to the 10% rule. You must be 10% smarter than what ever you are trying to do or operate.

Or we could just be like the masses and ask the government to protect us from ourselves because we are not responsible for our actions (translates as lazy)

Weird I grew up with streams and wild animals that came into the yard, livestock that at best was uncaring to your welfare. House fires were one of the biggest fears due to the rate they would burn. Yet wooden white phosphorus tipped matches hung in tins on the wall beside the wood stove. Candles were more reliable than flash lights.

By modern standards we should have died as a species. Population is suppose to hit 7 billion soon. Stupid people rule!

Damn need to burn that soap box one of these days

Brad
