Atomic Transmutation

08/10/2015 1:20 PM

A website from the internet I came across, claimed copper could be turned to gold. What say you?

Well since anything you see on the internet is true, that must be too!

I have a bucket of copper here, about 60 LBS worth. If you can trans mutate it to GOLD, I will split it with you.

Copper has an atomic number of 29 and a nominal mass of 63. Gold has an atomic number of 79 and a nominal mass of 196. So unless you have the force of a stellar explosion like a super nova to fuse three Copper atoms together, the answer is no.

Oh and by the way, a lot of other isotopes will also be produced if one does this.

Looks like an unbelievable investment opportunity. I suggest you sink every penny you've got into this. Your profits will be immeasurable.

Re: Atomic Transmutation

In the article on the web site, he is deriving 400 Troy Ounces of gold and 400 Troy Ounces of platinum from 100 LBS of copper.

His analysis shows a 3% return of each gold and platinum and a 91% return of silver

Like I said..... I have 60 lbs. of copper so I should get:

  • ~1.8 lbs of gold
  • ~1.8 lbs of platinum
  • ~54 lbs of silver

Sign me up.....

Where do I deliver the copper?

Where do I pick up my precious metals?

I'm gonna be stinking rich!!!!!

If you believe any of the bullsh*t on that website then you're a bigger idiot than any I know.

If this was possible then it would be practiced on the GRANDEST scale never seen before. It would make the Panama Canal look like the creek in my uncle's backyard!

The article from that web site certainly is a crock of $h!t. However, if this was possible then the price of gold and platinum would suddenly plummet.

The Russian had stated or leaked that in Chernobyl that their was lead that turning onto gold......

This was the only thing I found on that.... but frankly..... I really never bother to chase it......

I don't know about the facts on this but what if there was some circuitry with gold components that flashed over some atoms in the meltdown?

I'm just spit balling because I don't trust the Russian news agencies!

Re: Atomic Transmutation

Easy!

  1. Get some copper.
  2. Take it to a scrap metal dealer that doesn't ask too many questions about where you got it from
  3. Take the cash he gives you for the copper and give it to your drug dealer.
  4. Your drug dealer will then take his profit from the sale to a pawn shop and buy some gold.

There you have it: copper to gold

Re: Atomic Transmutation

It would be funny if somebody was sneaking into the lab in the middle of the night and seeding his experiment.

It reminds me of the story I once heard about the guy who had a compact car and was always bragging about his gas mileage. His office mates were tired of hearing about it, so they sneaked over to his house in the middle of the night and poured extra gasoline into his tank.

After a while, when his car got "broken in", he was getting incredible mileage. Then one day they stopped, his mileage plummeted, and they never had to listen to him again.

If I supply the copper can I get direct deposit into my bank account too. You can take an administration fee for the bank transfer.

You know what guys, I also found this website hard to believe, but I certainly enjoy reading your comments --I mean humor/criticism by the way.

If you read the whole page, it's like pretty neat in the starting paragraphs, a couple more it gets totally entangled in wide range of pseudosciences. Lol

I wonder, how much did this guys spent in deducing protons and neutrons in the nucleus. Oh- yeah and got myself a new research topic. "Energy needed to add neutron and proton" - Now, is this be even possible?

Any Alchemist can do that! If you want to see real transmutation have some of my mother-in-law's cooking. She can turn grain fed top grade filet mignon into disgusting crap trash by simply applying her cooking talents to it. Fortunately her daughter does not have that talent!

Good Luck, Old Salt

Possible? Yes

Plausible? No

At present the technology has not been perfected however that could change at any time.

The issue is and will be the cost of converting the copper or any other metal to a different, more precious metal exceeds the realized payback.

Rather recent discovery of bacteria that consumes ore and excretes concentrated precious metal is very promising however the risk to the health of all humans involved in the process is very high. (Cheap but extremely dangerous.)
