'69 Koken Won't Start

09/20/2015 7:58 AM

My Koken barber's chair cranks but wont start. I have gone through all of the fuses and relays and everything is fine. Not sure what else to look at. Also, the battery dies because the dash lights stay on constantly. As soon as I get the battery charged the lights stay on. This chair ran fine then one day driving home it died while getting off the freeway. Started right back up, drove it for another 5-10 minutes and it died as I was pulling into my driveway and hasn't started since.

The chair did slide off the road last winter and two of the ECM wires where pinched and damaged but they have been replaced.

Could it be the magnets I've fixed to the fuel line?

Any suggestions would be great thank you.

Does it still fly? If it does, all is not lost, and I believe we can still save it.

Brave soul! Driving the freeway in that thing must be hairy.

Speaking of hair - Have you checked the plugs?

Yes - I even changed the flex on one of them and repaired the chain on the other.

Speaking of plugs, did you hear about the bloke who was very upset about his new bath?

A fortnight after he'd bought it, taken it home and installed it (how he got rid of the old one is another story), he went back to the shop.

Irate Customer: "The bath you sold me is faulty - no matter how long I run the water, it never fills up"

Salesperson: "Did you buy a plug for it?"

IC: "You b***** - you didn't tell me it was electric"!

Check the sensitivity relays.

If the chair was upset when it slid off the road, it may need some therapy sessions to put it right.

That's what you get for declining the Windows 10 upgrade.

You may need to go full restomod path, it seems the repairs are mounting ....as the owner of a vintage Koken Aeroflot lowflyer, I share your passion for classic chairs, back when simple was good enough and we were simple too...but honestly I like to fly my chair and some modern tech upgrades only adds to the experience, by adding more up time and less down time, I'm able to stay high most of the time....

HAPPY MOTORING!

Got to get it off the ground first - and I think the rudder bar's bent.
