Nikon's Small World Contest: A Gallery of Beautiful Tiny Things

10/05/2007 8:50 AM

"Since 1974, Nikon has sponsored a yearly photo competition for images that delve into the worlds beyond the reach of the unaided human eye. The camera maker feted the photographers who made the top 20 "photomicrographs" in Nikon's annual Small World competition at New York's Explorer's Club. The winners were drawn from a pool of 1,709 submissions."

Really neat photographs of very tiny things. Link

I would have thought that you would like 2 or 5 better. Perhaps the notorious Mr. Vermin will weigh in.

I don't know that I can pick just one. It seems that each time my eye is dazzled along pops something even more staggering.

I am going to go back through them all.

Jeez! It's like asking "Who is better Picasso or Rembrandt."

My personal favorites are 3, 4, and 13. 11 is interesting because I've seen this very pattern etched across plastic that was covered by algae. In this case, it was a rather large slug that had made the delicate saw-toothed pattern.
