That was very odd. When I first saw it, it was a plain black rectangle with "www.stupidgifs.com" in white. Image info gave the dimensions as 0 x 0 pixels.

Very odd indeed. Also very off topic.

The new quote line has left me even more puzzled than when I posted the last GA...even I'm not mad enough to cycle back thru my meagre tally of GA's !

This post in itself will look increasingly odd when I edit my profile quote next.

Re: Off Topic Post

I have a Floating Energy Barge that I want to get rid of. It would be difficult to carry out in one piece, so I intend to break it into smaller pieces in-situ.

The accepted method seems to be applying a sledge-hammer. Suitable safety precautions need to be taken (Flying wind energy kites, etc). The noise would also be considerable. One method I am considering is to affix some thermite at a shallow angle, fit it across the span of the barge, then use a jack to bear down on the thermite. Hopefully the leverage may be enough to induce cracking.

Does anyone have thoughts about the viability of this, or other methods of smashing a Floating Energy Barge up?

Thank you, dears.

Weevils! I should have thought of them. I suppose the smaller kind would be preferred to the larger species, because then I could use the lesser of two weevils. <runs for cover>

Comforting video featuring nuclear Boy Post

03/20/2011 1:12 AM

At first viewing , I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

But, it is easier to get something out of it, as opposed to this.

This design , similar to the damaged ones in Japan, is a boiling water reactor, as opposed to the ones I have had limited experience with, pressurized water reactors.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert and I am biased.

My feeling is that the long term consequences are not going to be as bad as originally hyped.

The radiation levels indicated in the immediate area of the reactor building are in line with levels that nuclear workers perform tasks in, with the main concern being particle contamination adhering to ones body. Of course, it's best to get no dose, 200m/rem per hour dose rate( reported as monitored in one location on site), is what is figured as yearly dose for average non-nuke worker, received from naturally occurring background sources.

Bears have a reputation for being mean when they wake up from hibernation. I'm told that this is because pre-sleep, they bung themselves up by eating twigs and such stuff. They can then gorge on food to sustain them thru the winter period. Evidently, come Spring (I'm no expert on bears, we don't have many in the UK), it's going to be mighty painful having that first **** for x months.

Can't think why I'm relating this, but it's certainly put me off topic.

Facebook party invite goes viral

Posted by: Ben Grubb, TheAge | 15 March, 2011 - 2:04 PM

A NSW teen says she has called in the police after her Facebook birthday party invitation went viral with almost 200,000 people threatening to show up.

The 15-year-old's home and mobile phones have been bombarded with calls and text messages from strangers because she had put her mobile number on a Facebook event birthday party invite that was made publicly available.

Her home address was also listed, which was how many uncovered her home telephone number, she said.

On the Facebook invitation, the girl said she didn't have enough time to invite everyone. She therefore asked for people, if they knew someone who might like to go, to invite them on her behalf.

She also said that the event was going to be an "open house" party as long as it didn't "get out of hand". She told Fairfax that she did this because only two people showed up to the last party she held.

This isn't the first time a Facebook event invitation has gone viral on the web in Australia.

Corey Worthington was one teen who held a massive party with the help of MySpace. About 500 teenagers spilled on to the streets, damaging property and throwing projectiles at police cars. The damage bill came to about $20,000.
