Mechatronics Class Project

11/10/2007 2:02 PM

My mechatronics project is a drink mixer and I am trying to make a magnetic stirrer for one of the components. I know that I have to use a 12V DC Motor. I would like to know what would be the best torque for mixing just plain liquids? And would I just require a series motor or a gearhead motor?

I'll try and get you to work it out.

1 Does a reasonably sized 12v DC motor have much torque?

2 Does it take much torque to stir a liquid?

Think about these 2 questions. If you need more help get back to me with what you think the 2 answers are I'll advise further.

Someone else may just tell you what they think...but you should be able to have a shot at it yourself.

I don't want to sound like a grumpy old git...but what level is this project?...If I was your lecturer I would probably throw it out as too simple, or I'd suggest it was at least a blender, with some sort of sensor to detect when blending is done and to automatically stop.

Tell us more ... we do help ... honest

Do a GOOGLE SEARCH for magnetic mixers.

You will find hundreds of designs.
