Question from Self Employed

05/07/2008 12:32 PM

I have a question regarding a motor leads hook up.

I have a 5hp motor single face 220 volts. T8 + T1 + P3 are tired together with wire going up to manual reset terminal. The other terminal on the reset button has pig tale hanging.

T4 + T5 are wire nutted together. Were do i hook my power lines to? Could you please get back to me at haroldhaney@yahoo.com

Thanks

Harold

I'm not sure about the T8/T1/P3 connection. None of the diagrams in the link that OZZB sent you reference a P3. Only P1 and P2. ( good link by the way, thanks OZZb) I looked in my Uglys book and I don't see a P3 either. Are the connections you are looking for at the motor, in the pecker head box or at your starter? At the motor, on a single phase dual voltage motor the connections for high voltage (220v) should be: Line 1 connected to T1, Line 2 connected to T4& T5 and T2/T3/T8 are connected together. To reverse the motors rotation switch T5 and T8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I am not an expert electrician, but a maintenance person that has tried to learn by OTJ Training over many years. Go to any electrical supply store and get yourself an Uglys Reference Manual. You won't be sorry for all the more it will cost you.

Hello Guest,

All Motors have a Maker's Nameplate fitted.

Please reply with the Nameplate details.

Kind Regards....
