Either it has psychological problems or it is burning oil.

If it burns oil, that would likely give the car psychological problems. Kind of a catch-22.

So, why does a car burn oil? Because either the rings on the pistons are worn or the valve seals are worn or both. On rare occasions it can be because of a bad EGR valve or even overfilling the oil in the engine. It depends on the make/model car you have.

Basically, it is a tired engine and needs a rebuild. If you are trying to pinch a penny, then just keep driving it. If the engine starts making noise, go to the auto store and buy every can with the word "Miracle" on it you can find and pour it in.

You forgot a bad PCV valve.

Miracle Oil destroyed a desiel engine of mine. It strips the oil and grease off everything. All of a sudden the lifter lockup up and the rings clogged. When I pulled the piston the rings were sceized to the pistons. Took forever to clean those slots and get the rings freed up.

I still use STP will good results for the lifter noise. But I put it in while the engone is running and I put it in both valve covers. I don't trust oil pumps to carry it to the side without an oil fill hole.

____ (For 6 months, recently, occasionally) I have noticed that (describe problem, i.e. blue smoke appear in the exhaust upon decelleration,). This problem started after a ______ (recent oil change, or other circumstances).

A compression check showed ____ p.s.i in all ___ cylinders.

The vehicle is ___ under warrenty. I looked at the oil on the dipstick and it appeared ___ in color.

Once we learn about the car history and type we can provide good comments.

Blue smoke usually means the engine is burning oil. Others have described the reasons above.

White smoke can mean you are burning brake fluid, usually caused when the master cyllinder goes bad on a car with a vacuum booster

Clear/gray smoke (AKA Water vapor) with a sweet scent is coolant which is typically a bad head gasket.

Black smoke is caused by a car running too rich (i.e. too much fuel for the air to burn completely.)
