Open Software for Interface to Engine Electronic Fuel Injection System

06/11/2008 1:06 AM

Is there available interface software in the market that can connect to virtually all if not most of the EFI system in automotive or industrial engines? Or can I get a vendor that might help me with this?

Okey, thanks electroman. So this softwares are generally proprietary. The thought of maybe there is a universal software for that came into my mind because I had a hard time looking for vendor that can supply me with the interface software for our Caterpillar SARL GEH200. Even the local distributor here is not willing to sell us a software, for the reason that their business is exclusive supply, service, operate and maintenance of these engines. Anyway, if there is someone you can refer me to, I would appreciate it very much. God bless

The reason I'm so certain is because I used to work for a company that did engine testing and mapping for the major automotive manufacturers, and it was back then deadly top secret, as they didn't want the other companies to know what they were doing etc...

However, I might still be in contact with someone who used to sell chips to enhance the performance / fuel economy of certain engines...

Apparently the manufacturers use an easy mapping chip for their standard models, to give good fuel consumption, good performance and an engine that's not too highly stressed.

BUT if you want high performance at the cost of the other three its amazing what re-chipping can do

Or similarly if you want excellent fuel economy etc...

John.
