PART RECOMMENDATION

06/23/2008 12:20 PM

Hey all,

I was wondering if you could help me... I have a .5" shaft running through 2 bearings and was wondering if there was a part that would 'click' every time it was in some position. For instance i believe it sould look like a bearing and have 36 'clicking' positions. Any Ideas?

Is there something better... I was looking for something that would divide rotation... like a ratchet and pawl... I have concerns about he curved profile... is there something similar but without the curved profile on the teeth?

its very easy to do.

just use a pulse encoder with 36ppr(pulse/rotation).the encoder will be coupled directly or if there are diffrencess so use the mech formula for the pullies, and you can get your expeted resulets.

i hope it will help you.

Do you want this to run at high rpm? If not, I'd suggest a simple 36 tooth gear wheel & a small spring-loaded 'ball catch'. Be a bit inventive!

OK, think back, back, no, way back. You're ten years old and you want your bicycle wheel to make a sound many times per rotation. So, you used a clothes pin to fasten a playing card to hit the spokes. Do the same thing with a gear and a piece of stiff celluloid.

You could use a micro switch the shaft could have small bumps or mini cams attached that would trigger the specific switch . The switch when activated could signal a light or audible devise to display location .
