what are the criteria that should considered when selecting a compressor,

eg- piston or screw, capacity selection etc...

The most basic question you have to answer is what type of compressor you need based on pressure and flowrate. This simple chart can help between centrifugal, reciprocating, rotary and single/multistage:

Other than that I would suggest searching the 'net for "compressor selection", doing a little reading/researching and then asking more specific questions.

Please help the forum to supply better information by supplying more information as to what is intended. No reader here likes to play games of "20 Questions".

Some numbers would certainly help.
