Are the member status norms changed on CR4?

06/04/2009 10:20 AM

Hello Everyone.

I have posted my 500th post today about 6hrs back from now, but since then I have observed there is no change in my member status. To the best of my knowledge it should have been changed to "guru" from "power user".

I just wish to know if the norms for the same are changed or is it just a procedural delay.

I hope there is no discriminatory policy.

We have all ganged behind your back to deny you your well deserved guru status - there was a secret ballot passed around by snail mail

NO...

That's not it. It is non-discriminatory as it is applied evenly to all electro-mechanical engineers named rakesh from India. Had you the foresight to have changed your name, moved, or chosen another career field we would not be discussing this.

As is there is little we can do without violating the bylaws.

ACTUALLY - I just followed a link to a Monty Python skit (it is all English Rose's fault) and I haven't fully recovered - so am well past silly and am deeply into ridiculous. My comments are liable to be worthless for hours and I am afraid to work on the documentation on my desk.

Congratulations on your 500th! We look forward to 500 and more valuable posts from you.

As for your status, perhaps they roll it up nightly like my banker does - I have not the slightest insight and am deeply sorry for having wasted your time with my nonsense.

Thank you for making nice clarifications.

Status is not a big issue so long it is dictated by laws. I was not aware of such norms. Any way I can wait for another 500posts,

Ultimately it is the quality of post that matter not the number of post, however I believe I need to do lot on that front.

Thanks again.

Give it a day or 2. I think guru status is reviewed by the admin., (It took a full day to get mine). It's on it's way, trust me.

The status changes happen once a day. If you don't see a change in 48 hours then please let me know by posting back here.

Thanks
- Mark

This could be worth some money - ask L.Ron Hubbard.

Well, I look really good in a black suite, white shirt, and a skinny tie, (actually, when I go out, that's what I wear). However, I'm just not quite that limber.

Yup, that's one of the perks of writing the program... I get userId #1, my own a custom title (which few people notice, so thanks for the shout-out), and I get to answer questions about the guts of the site (which I like to do). A good deal all around.

Thanks

All humor aside, nice job dude.

Sweet running site, nary a hiccup (that we see) clean and intuitive.

Bravo.

Hi Mark,

Good to see you again. You know how much I love this site, and that we all love you for what you've created. I remember not only the first generation but also the e-newsletters. I worked out I've been doing challenge questions (on and off) for about 7 years!!!

Say hi to the rest of the gang for me.

ER

PS: Apologies for setting ed off - I'll be more careful next time.

Apparently the word is out that 500 posts, and you get Guru status.

The administrators seem to keep track of these things typically.

I even had a case where my GA number went up and down.

I didn't want to say anything about it or complain, since, well, l appreciate the forum, and am impressed at how much work goes into it, along with how well it was designed in the first place.

"l appreciate the forum"

As do I. Looks like I'll be spending much more time around here in the coming weeks. I crashed hard on my bicycle Sunday. I fractured my pelvis, can't walk. In pain. CR4 is much more entertaining that the boob tube!
