Allen Bradley (usual disclaimer) runs or ran training courses from its Training Centre in Sutton Coldfield. It is likely that other PLC brands do the same.

Try calling a PLC distributor for guidance on what training is available locally.

Hello Guest:

The following link will take you to schneider-electric website/ download page. You can download some free or trial software that will let you do ladder logic programming, and run a full simulation. The first link is to their software page, a lot of interesting software.

They have recently updated their site and there seems to be a wealth of information and educational material available so have fun rummaging around.

http://www.schneider-electric.com/sites/corporate/en/general/search/search-result.page?URL=http://search.schneider-electric.com/livesite/portlets/AutonomyGlobalSearch.jsp%253FLanguage=en%2526Country=corp%2526lancer=oui%2526autnmQueryBis=Programming%25252520software

This link will take you to the software I am talking about, that will let you do ladder logic and function block programming, and run full simulations on your computer. In fact it is the software that is supplied with the programmable logic relays the company sells , so you can actually run the simulations, and download the finish program into your logic controller when you're done.

I am also including links to previous forums that contain information that possibly could be of some help or interest to you. Good luck.

Entertron has a range of PLCs as well as design/build for OEM applications. Their software is free to download at http://www.entertron.com/software.htm You will also find a fair bit of general information which may be helpful and their tech support is pretty friendly.
