ARC Measurement

06/20/2009 4:43 PM

I know we did this one before it was a long time ago.

I need a formula for calculating DC.

The arc of ADB will not be a semi circle, it will be shorter than 1/2 of a complete circle if that make sense.

Are you in luck!

Or I should ask, did it work last time?

That's it.

All sorts fo ugly stuff happened about 6 months back when lightning hit us and ran through the so called surge protector. One of which I lost passwords, emails and other items not backed up.

That was the thread and i sorted through the suggestions to find which ones I actually understood. It needs to be just close, not dead on.

thanks you for keeping such impecable records.

I am not sure if you have gotten your answer, so here it is (again) IF your arc is a segment of a circle, that is, has a constant radius:

Taken from the Machinery's Handbook:

Now I know what MY next purchase is.

Very practical aspects of geometry!

For sure - the Machinery's Handbook is usually the first place I turn for quick, succinct answers to most of my mensuration problems - trigonometry, areas, volumes, .......
