Decorating Titanium with...Hydrogen?!

06/12/2005 5:39 PM

I LOVE Titanium. It's just SO good for so many things.
And even though I have been reading that it will be quite awhile until hydrogen fuel cells become a viable commercially efficient fuel source, the research in this article touts titanium as an efficient source for hydrogen storage. Titanium molecules attached to carbon nanotubes can each bond 4 hydrogen molecules for "more than adequate and efficient hydrogen storage."

Cost vs. Benefit

Isn't titanium just a bit pricy for storage cells? I know that thing bond easily too it (that's what makes refining it such a pain, chlorine love titanium).
