Jack Kilby, the inventor of the integrated circuit dies.
As an engineer I like to think that I have created or will create something that will have a significant impact on the world. Jack with the invention of the integrated circuit certainly did that. To me this is why I love engineering and why I chose it as a career. How about anybody else. Why are you an engineer? Oh yeah, I have invented a few things that I can point to that made a difference, saved my company $4 million a year, and helped to create a product which was credited with saving a company division. But I'm still working on the one that might be remembered by anyone besides me. I know how difficult your achievement was Jack, my hat's off to you.
