One way is with a camshaft with a helical groove machined into it, going from one end to the other and then returning in the opposite direction. Such a path crosses over itself, and the cam follower must be designed to keep pointed in the right direction as it traverses these intersections. There are other possibilities too, as may be seen by examining a fishing reel or cable winder.

Thank you "TORNADO" .

1. I have same principle in my mind i.e. a camshaft with helical groove. Bt the problem is how to decide dia . ,no of grooves ., pitch For mfg. whether to machine the grooves by Milling ?

2.With this principle it will have only single pitch ( pre decided )
