Charotar University gets grant to develop smart nanomagnetic fluid

01/06/2010 2:33 PM

The project to build smart nanomagnetic fluid will be implemented by a scientific team comprising four experts, who will work to develop a magnetic fluid based on nanotechnology to be utilized in shock absorbers and clutches for reduction of vibration.

It aims at synthesizing stable nano magnetorheological (MR) fluids for future industrial applications, such as clutches, dampers and others. MR fluids contain magnetic nanoparticles whose viscosity can be altered by a magnetic field. At present, micron-sized particles are used and these fluids are not stable.

Hi Garthh,

do you know the (some) reasons of instability in today existing magnetic fluids?

Would be really interesting if and how to make better.

A very happy New Year to you!

Gravity?

No idea that is one of my questions & part of why I made the post...

Always good to hear from you
