Should I Join the Diplomatic Service?

04/29/2010 8:39 AM

So, as I am so tactful and thoughtful of others feelings:

Should I be in the diplomatic service?

It's been a while since we had a war.

Someone once said that you looked like an IRA bomber. That probably qualifies you for the diplomatic service.

You can take over one of our wars, if you'd like. They've been pre-started for you.

You wouldn't even have to insult anyone that way.

"It's been a while since we had a war."

Would you fix that, or just keep it going?

DISCLAIMER:None of this is meant to be an insult to you!

Oh but you seem to be so likable.

I don't imagine that you could rank up (or down) there with those in the diplomatic service. You just don't seem like the type to lie or hold back.

Diplomacy takes tact and caring about the feelings of others, and you tend to say what you feel and mean. Actually a bit refreshing.

(from one non-engineer to another)

No problem.

I'm often misunderstood.

I've actually been told that I have an abrasive personality at times. I, however, do not see it!

All good Pete. Some people just need to grow a mustache and harden the F*** up.

It's the difficulty of the written word, occasionally it reflects the intention of the reader not the writer.. don't ask me how I know..

Maybe you could take over from Gordon B once he gets his foot out his mouth.

What he said was probably true, but you want someone in charge of your country that is bright enough to turn off the mike.

Or vice president of the US? That would be a big .......... deal.

What the hey, if you get a decent offer from the diplomatic service, go for it. You'll need to know double-speak, though....

As for the undiplomatic service, nearly everyone is qualified, perhaps me especially!

Dear Pete,

That was a diplomatic question and you are already a proven diplomat. Have you forgotten your post "Are our engineer really cleaver" in this blog which has created a good chaos.

Regards.
