There are few methods available for fault current calculation.

They are:

(1) Per Unit method (most commonly used method)

(2) MVA method

(3) Point-to-Point method

(4) Ohmic Method

I would suggest you to follow one method first (don't mix up the methods). Here are some links that has step by step approach for various methods:

Mmmmm!

For fault analysis msamad has given excellent links.

On title, you have mentioned regarding to Busbar Design. For Busbar Design please consider the below steps:

1- choice of cross-section of conductor based on required normal current, given ambient temperature, specified permissible temperature rise

2- Calculation of temperature rise under short time current to see that it is in safe limits.

3- Calculation of electro dynamic forces per metre per given short circuit current.

4- Calculation of choice of support insulator on the basis of bending moment withstand value

6- design of insulator system, phase to phase clearance phase to ground clearance, creeepage

7- design of support structures

8- Design of clamps and connectors flexible joints

9- Manufacture full scale prototypes having adequate length typical bends, typical joints, connectors

10- Subjecting to type tests

11- Subjecting a typical busbar to field trials

12- Regular manufacture and routine tests.
