AC to DC adaptors - Regulated vs Unregulated

09/09/2010 11:44 AM

What is the difference between a regulated and an unregulated AC to DC adapter?

What is the difference between a switching mode adapter and a non-switching mode adapter?

He/She is probably in school and wants someone else to do his/her work for them. Must be planning on being a slimy manager rather than an Engineer.

the regulated adapter is regulated to give a precise voltage.

the un regulated is not regulated and the voltage fluctuates.

surley you could have figured that out

a switch mode uses an oscilator to acheicve the desired voltage and a non switch mode does not.

Do you know how to use the search thing at the top of the page ?

You type a question like "What is a regulated power supply" hit return and in the case of Google you get =

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=what+is+a+regulated+power+supply&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=&rlz=1I7GZEU_en&redir_esc=&ei=wA6JTPKpK4zM4Aa7wJDSBA

Now stop asking silly questions

Tony, I certainly don't look forward to it.

There does seem to be a dearth of reading comprehension, or even the will to try to answer his or her own questions through research before dumping it in our lap isn't there?
