Why electricity doesn't use to boil water to run steam engine instead of coal / natural gas etc. ?

When the train gets about a hundred yards (meters) down the track, the extension cord pulls out of the socket.

No no, people, he doesn't mean plug the train into a socket for God's sake. He means you use batteries to boil the water -> steam drives engine -> engine wheels drive DC generator -> generator charges battery->->->-> simple and free.

How do you generate the electricity? to run steam engine? is it cost effective? is it efficient? is it dynamic enough for real time analysis? answer these

now a days electric steam loco is not necessary and also not advisable due to poor efficiency . electric loco is having comparitivly higher efficiency.

Aside from the obvious flaw in the OP's question, why did everyone jump to a steam locomotive? He said "steam engine" which would be PART of a steam locomotive, but there are (were) steam engines associated with other machinery.

For the same reason we don't use electricity to power a motor that rotates an electric generator to create electricity, because it is inefficient.

It is as simple as that.

Dear Mr.nimeshjagirdhar73,

Using Electricity directly with the help of Motor is higly efficient than producing Steam and run the steam engine which very less efficient.

Electric Motors Efficiency is in the Range of 88% to 90% where as Steam Engine Efficiency is 5% or less than 5% Lubrication Problem is high when compared to Motor.

Further, the the Steam Engine is obselete.
