3 Phase Compressor

07/06/2011 3:40 PM

Dear friends,

Please share some knowlede about 3 phase compressors. If by mistake changed the phase sequence of a compresor then it,s direction will also be changed. I want to ask that what will happend when compressor changed the direction. And how we could know that it,s direction is right or wrong. Could be a 3 phase compressor internaly thermal protected? If yes then definately it will be protected on all 3 phases? Not 1 or 2 phases?

If any 3 phase compressor is not starting and it,s 3 lead,s are showing open(no continuty). So how can we knw that it,s winding is flashed or it,s internally overload is triped.

Thank,s and regard,s.

If the compressor is a single stage recip rotation direction may not matter. If it is multi stage, or scroll then direction does matter.

A 3 phase motor could be equipped with integral thermal overload protection. If two were open, would they not all indicate open?

Did your compressor come with a manual? If not the manufacturer might provide one to you. Reading the manual might be a good place to start.
