Every three months after installation for the first year, after that once in 21 months under dry soil conditions according to MIL-HDBK-419.

Dry soil is defined as no rainfall during the previous 3 days.

The earth resistance shall be measured at least:

a) Once a year for HT / EHT Installations [vide IER 67 (5) (b)]

b) Once in two years for LT Installations [vide IER 61 (5)]

(IER - The Indian Electricity Rules, 1956)
