Please don't SHOUT.

The minimum length is that needed to land a helicopter.

One of the longest runways in the world may be found at La Paz airport, Bolivia. It is long because the air is thin owing to altitude.

There are a whole host of factors that determine the length of an airport runway. Chiefly, these are the size and gross takeoff and landing weights of the largest aircraft served, the takeoff (V1) and landing/stall speeds for aircraft served, the altitude of the airport above mean sea level, ambient air temperatures throughout the years, the glide slopes of various aircraft, if there is a ILS system installed, and the airport classification....etc etc etc. County airports generally serve much smaller aircraft then say an International Airport which handle the jumbo jets of today and perceived jumbo's of the future. Private airports are generally smaller than county airports in that they serve the General Aviation sector primarily.

IF you're in the USA then I suggest that you visit the US FAA website and learn the basics. Be forewarned, it's not an easy process to learn if you're a layman, meaning that you are not an Airport Design Engineer (ie, a specialized Civil Engineering discipline).

Well, this runway is 460 meters. It is also the most dangerous airport in the world.

A good call! I saw this airport on a TV program a couple of years ago that featured the 10 deadliest airports in the world.

If I'm not mistaken, they had a very bad crash at it this past year, or was it 2 years ago. All aboard perished.

Yeah, I think I have seen the same TV program. Interesting stuff.

Yoikes!

Dangerous in the first place, and busy, too. I found this YewToob video of Lukla Airport operations. In four minutes, two planes recovered and two launched. I would assume this is a busy part of the day, but man-o-man, this appears to be a great way to schedule an otherwise unscheduled thermal event.

Twice the distance from the middle to either of its two ends.

Without more information on exactly what you want with your broad question this is about all I can offer.

Can you provide more information please.

I guess the minimum is a couple of yards longer than the distance needed for your airplane to take off or land. Maximum would probably be at the border.
