UL Audits

04/30/2012 11:05 AM

wanna start a discusson on ul audit and vn ( variation notice )

We have designed a circuit for a LED light fixture and have send it for UL approval and it was approved three years ago, and got ul approval marking. This device is oprerated on 12vdc to power up a led current of about 300 ma, and of late we changed some resistor and cap values (smd component) for pwm purposes . The values that we changed doesnt in anyway adversely impact the safety feature of the whole light fixture.

I am of the understanding that only transfomers, Varistors which are related with safety are important if values are changed, but components like resistors and caps, can be changed. Is my reasoning correct?

Then obviously if u look at ur FUS file, the resistor value would be different. That would be a non complainnce as per UL normal procedure. How did u add the new value resitor or component into the FUS File?

Please advise.
