Problem-Sag & Tension

05/13/2012 8:57 AM

i have a problem for u guys........if some one could help me solve this, bcoz i am not very good at calculations, and its related to sag & tension calculation of transmission lines.

prob:

AAAC conductor

Area=500 mm2

Dia=29.1 mm

Unit wt.=2.002 kg/m (with warning lights)

Modulus of Elasticity=570060 kg/cm2

Co-efficient of linear Expansion=23*10-6 per degree C0

Ultimate strength=15194 kg

...................................................

Limiting conditions are:

a) Final Tension with no wind at 30 0C shall not exceed 17% of UTS.

b) Final tension with 1064 N/m2 at 30 0C shall not exceed 50% of UTS.

c) initial Tension with 430 N/m2 at (-1) 0C shall not exceed 30% of UTS.

Effect of conductor creep shall be taken at 20 0C.

.............................................................................................

Please solve this for me.

Thanx and Regards.

Homework Alert!!!

You see if you had read the FAQ properly you'd see that we despise doing others homework.

You did phrase your request correctly, but failed in the execution. If you had shown us what you do understand, attempted to do the work here and were asking us why the results seemed wrong or showed us something other than you being a lazy student then we might help.

So you only want to be spoon fed information like a little baby. I now see why you're not good at equations. I suggest you change your major before you waste your time and money. You certainly will not be wasting my time any more.

I lost interest in helping after "u" and "bcoz" but the attitude has intrigued me to hang around a bit longer!

Curious to see where this goes!

Dude. Spoze u start w/ explaining like man what u got against Scorpions?

Scorpions Aint? Yeah? Swags over dis way wit dat. Scorpions B Cool, man.

But if u r d Scorpion Saint - u did not start good for CR4 2b BEFF (best engineering friends forever)

Why u frontin about calculations? You gotta know the net bcoz u found CR4...

b4 u read ur chapters?

Mom's Day got u buggin and u miss ur class?

U comes back with some research and effort - like u knows, one calculation even if u gets it all wrongs like bcoz ur units is messed up.

Put down the gameboy and pick up a book or journal or go to the library (big building with lots of books). Snap pic w/ ur c-phone bcoz we want to see u did it.

Grabs up one article (that's like when stuff is all wrote down on paper u no?) for reference to show u are trying and may b u won't get dissed next time.

Scorpions Rule!

scrpionsaint, engineering is based on calculation, . If you are not good in calculation, you must become as good as possible.

Anyway, go to this link

Okay, maybe I was too harsh on scorpionsaint.

I apologize for ranting. I think.

So, I re-read the OP.

Prob: is scorpionsaint - u need to tell us what u want solved bcoz there is not one question mark in ur entire post.

Are you asking for:

Tower spacing to meet specified conditions?

Sag at that span distance?

A second chance because you are really brand new - which is perplexing that you would have this as an assignment if you are brand new???

Thanx and Regards
