What are Control Cables?

05/14/2007 1:57 AM

In which places control cables are used? What is the minimum and maximum size of the control cable? Specify the location as the purpose for using this cable as specific application.

My usual rate for doing someone else's homework for them is US$50/hour, with a bonus of $25 if you get an A. Please pay in advance...

Come off it! CR4 did not charge you any registration fee. There members out there who want to learn. Please be considerate....

Engineering technology in all its fields and aspects has shaped todays morden world.

No matter how old you are there are things one knows and things one dose not know. Besides that there are things that one thinks he knows but he really dosen't when it comes to the technical implementation and better understanding of it.

Regards,

Ron

"In which places control cables are used?"

Mechanical control cables are of whatever sizes is needed to accomplish the movement required.

Electrical controls cables are composed of multiple elecrical conductors to accomplish control of some specific equipment or process through instrumentation.

Control cables are used in aircraft to mechanically connect the pilot's control wheel to the aircraft's control surfaces such as ailerons, rudder and elevators. In heavy/fast, newer aircraft control cables are electrical conductors carrying input signals commanded by the pilot to force-multiplying actuators which operate the aircraft's control surfaces. Two different types of cable-same ultimate purpose, control.

For what ever machinery or equipments, the cable used to supply electrical power to main & auxilary motor drives or other drives (may be in some cases coils also) is called POWER CABLE.

The cables used to supply electrical power to control devices (like contatrors, circuit interlocks & other electronic control modules) which is used to control above said main drives is called control cables.

Normally control cables are used upto the size of 2.5 sqmm. Any way it varies according to different applications.

Additionally, you will find that control cables carry control voltages of 240Vac, 110Vac, 24Vac, 12Vac to 24Vdc, and 12Vdc.

These are control voltages which powers up the control devices. These control devices then swings into action controlling machinery or equipments.
