Metering Skid

07/24/2012 12:53 AM

Hi, I will be joining a new company and most of their projects deal with metering systems. Do you have any suggestions what do I have to be ready for? Like what I have to study and review?

Thanks a lot!

Be ready to receive training on the procedures that this company follows in the execution of its projects.

If you are talking fuel or other liquids, read up on turbine meters and prover ball systems. You might also look into sonic flow meters and orifice plate and positive displacement meters, but turbine meters and prover ball(slug) systems are the cool stuff.

Read everything on the company's website. Make a note of any word, phrase or name you don't understand and look it up. If there is a specific industry in which the company is specialized, find a trade organization for that industry and look at their website.

In general, I would suggest for you to develop some knowledge or familiarity on the different types of sensors / transducers, their interface and applications. Initially familiarizing on any associated terminologies and /or differing application characteristics which would help you to effectively communicate with others. Good luck!

Go to instrument web sites and watch their tutorials.

Here's a start: Emerson Process Management - Rosemount Analytical (not an endorsement)
