THE EFFECT ON YOUR MIND IS THE EFFECT OF HARMONICS!

IN ELECTRICAL TERMS

Normal Frequency of AC Power sup[ply is 50 Hz / 60 Hz, depend upon the country.

Power supply is not always consist of pure sinusoidal wave with single frequency component of 50 /60 Hz.

To represent mathematically any wave form, in terms of sinusoidal waves of multiples of principle frequency, with the help of Fourier series.

These components represented mathematically, other than that of principle components are called as harmonics.

In electricity, They are practically generated by Non Linear Loads, Bad terminations etc...

That is to say, any obstacle to the normal current flow will create harmonics.

They have bad effect on the supply system as some of them are equivalant to power losses & do not contribute the active power, causing inefficiency of the power supply system, over heating of the electrical equipments etc...
