Visor Anti-Fog Film and Coatings

12/03/2012 11:00 PM

Hi there,

It seems the anti-fog film and coating on my visor has worn off. Commuting on these cold mornings with a fogged up visor is getting annoying.

Anyone have experience with an aftermarket spray coating or similar before I go off looking in the stores?

Jesse

Spit in it and rub the spit around.

That's what SCUBA divers do.

Dang, you beat me to it.

And it's not a myth. I did it while diving for many years and have done it a couple of times to get me safely home on my scooter on hot humid nights.

IIRC, wiping with glycerin works.

I use a spray that is quite successful in our coldish winter mornings. Got it from the local bike shop, asked one of the guys there that I know rides in the mornings, and he advised me very well. Drove in serious fog the other day and even applied to my prescription glasses - successfully. I can't remember the brand, as I lost it somewhere on mylast trip. You just have to re-apply it after washing the visor. Cost was arond $6, IIRC.

Rain-X has (or at least had) an anti-fog product on the market. Another option is to drop in to a scuba dive shop and get one of their anti-fog products. There are a variety available. Usually comes in a dropper bottle that you apply to the lens, rub on, then polish dry.
