Is HVAC Training Right for You?

Posted June 01, 2011 12:33 PM by redstonecollege

If you are looking for a skilled trade that lets you work with your hands, the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) field may be the perfect career path for you. Companies, hotel chains, office parks and homeowners rely on efficient and reliable climate control and refrigeration, and need the help of experts to install and maintain these systems.

Getting HVAC training may qualify you for these types of entry-level career positions:

HVAC Service Technician
HVAC Technicians maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems, correcting problems throughout the entire system. Technicians do preventative maintenance work, such as replacing filters, belts, and other parts of the system that may prevent it from operating efficiently.

Refrigeration Mechanic
Refrigeration Technicians install, service, and repair industrial and commercial refrigerating systems and a variety of refrigeration equipment. They follow blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' instructions to install motors, compressors, condensing units, evaporators, piping, and other components.

Small Appliance Repair Technician
Small appliance repair technicians work specifically on small appliances such as microwaves and vacuum cleaners. They visually inspect appliances and check for unusual noises, excessive vibration, leakage of fluid, or loose parts to determine why the appliances fail to operate properly. They use service manuals, troubleshooting guides, and experience to diagnose particularly difficult problems. Repairers disassemble the appliance to examine its internal parts for signs of wear or corrosion.

If you are interested in a career in HVAC/R, training could be right for you. HVAC/R jobs require specialized training and a lot of hands-on practice. A program like the one at Redstone College can help you qualify for HVAC employment and prepare you for workplace challenges that you may face.

Does anyone actually repair small appliances anymore. By the time you pay for parts & labor its usually cheaper to buy a new small appliance.

I admit I am a little puzzled over this blog...

It does not seem to conform to Guideline #22 of the CR4 FAQ.

redstonecollege, can you help me out with this? This reads more like an advertisement than a discussion blog.

Like they say............it's not what you know, it's who you know.

redstonecollege must know someone in the inner circle......................they've only had one post.

That said, I don't have a problem with it. If the place is reputable, ( I would hope so), admin doesn't start with those annoying underlined pop up ads, and our stuff remains free...................who are we to complain about blog content?

If they've decided to sneak in some occasional sponsored advertising, a blog is a pretty reasonable way to do it. Now, if they haven't done their homework, and this, or any other sponsored blog isn't legit, that would be a different story.

They make the rules.

Not really complaining about the blog content. This quite obviously had to be reviewed by admin before posting, so there appears to be some shift in blog policy. I have seen admin close down some veiled advertisements in the past.

As you say, it is their ballpark, their ball... This is still the best discussion forum I have found.

I would assume that someone at CR4/GlobalSpec has checked these people out.

If they have, and they are legitimate, it would have been nice of them to let us know. After all, we have been trained to be wary.

If this place is legitimate, either give them a plug, or let them go. If they are legitimate, just let us know.

Simple enough.
