Actually the best plans for a manned trip to Mars that I have seen have no plans to return. Until there is something of value to return with why not set up a base and begin sending the required equipment to make the base self sufficient? A lot of the required equipment should be sent first, then a load of settlers. Why bring the people back?

Maybe we can send all of the Illegal Aliens here in the USA on a one-way no frills adventure to Mars...or one of it's tiny moons (if you could call them moons at all....more like small hunks of rock) all at the Xpense of the Ruskies and the Euros.

Then they can be "Aliens" there too! LOL

Heck, it'd be cheaper than having them here sucking off the nations teet!

Also, for starters send along as tour guides: the Prez, the First Lady, the VP, Palin, Bucannan, the ENTIRE CONGRESS, and just about all of the Tea Party crazies as well!!!]

Yeah, those Tea Party crazies who want to take over the government and then leave you alone.

/Yeah, they're scary, like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.
