What Is It? is a place for engineers to test their knowledge (and sense of humor). Each week (or month, or...) the CR4 team will post an unidentified picture of an object, tool, animal, something. We're looking for your best (or funniest) guesses at what it might be in the comments.

oooph! tinac beat you to it. C'mon lets all give a vote. You scored the pic, but #1 was on th spot. Nice find - If yoiu want a real challenge, find that thread about US Navy ships being barcoded. I spent an age but couldn't find a single photograph. Kudos to you both.

And it has (L) left (R) Right positioner letters so that it is not mounted improperly.

As dumb as it sounds the U.S. government barcodes and itemizes everything from big down to anything with a value. Periodically they must be scanned and kept on record or 86'D.
