Last week I talked about the science
behind a hangover and we all know it's pretty easy to have a hangover. But
do you know how to get rid of one?
Water. Since
alcohol is extremely dehydrating, the best way to not only cure but prevent a
hangover is to drink plenty of water. Towards the end of the night start to
alternate alcoholic drinks with glasses of water and then have an additional
glass of water before you go to bed.

Sleep. Being
drunk will severely disrupt your sleep.
Drink water each time you wake up and try to sleep as long as you can.
Eat a healthy
snack. Most people crave greasy, fatty food in the morning but it's better
for your stomach and the rest of your body if you eat something healthier. If
you're feeling nauseous, aim for the BRAT diet (bananas, rise, applesauce, and
toast). Eggs, crackers, and broth-based soups are also good options because
they don't upset your stomach. Avoid dairy products because they can increase
nausea. A tip to preventing hangovers is to eat a good meal before going out
since drinking on an empty stomach will speed up intoxication and cause an even
worse hangover.

Over the counter
pain meds. Taking an ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or aspirin can help with the
head and body aches associated with a hangover. Be careful not to take pain
meds while you're still drunk since they can mix with the alcohol and cause
dangerous side effects such as liver damage.
Get some exercise
(or at least get some fresh air). Exercise stimulates brain activity and
releases endorphins, which will improve your mood.

ways to sober up fast.
Things NOT to do
Have another drink - Hangovers make you feel terrible
because alcohol is toxic. A morning drink could end up making your hangover
worse the next day and set you up for alcohol addiction.
Drink a lot of coffee - A cup of coffee may be okay but a
lot of caffeine will cause additional dehydration.
Eat greasy food - Your stomach will not be able to
process greasy food because it is so irritated.
Here are some hangover cures from around the world.
