Pathfinder Tags: RC helicopters

RC helicopters are available in a number of varieties today. They come in all sorts of designs, material, size, power mechanism and range. Some people prefer smaller helicopters while some are fond of big ones, some like a robust machine, while some prefer simple helicopters. No matter what your taste is, there is a huge chance you will find the perfect fit for yourself in the RC helicopter market of 2013.

In this article, we are going to talk about the most important factors that you must consider before purchasing a helicopter.

The Size Of The Helicopter

Whatever you say, the size does matter when it comes to helicopters, especially RC helicopters. The majority of people, we have researched prefer larger helicopters because they look much realistic and close to the actual helicopter which gives a soothing feeling while flying. The size of the helicopters mostly depends on the material used and the manufacturer. Larger helicopters are expensive as well when compared to the smaller ones because of the better look, more features and realistic approach.

Power Source

There are a variety of power sources available in the market that works with an RC helicopter. Some run through Electricity, some though gas and some work through Nitro power. Gas and Nitro helicopters are the most popular ones, because of cheap power, but these powers make the helicopter make noise, which is considered as their major drawback. Electrical helicopters are silent, but they consume much more power and thus require constant charging every now and then.

Blade

Main blade is one of the most crucial parts of any helicopter. Therefore it is critical that you understand all the blade types and how they affect the quality of an RC helicopter. High quality blades usually fly much smoother and are much easier to control, which makes them an obvious choice.

The Material Of The Helicopters

There are quite a few numbers of material choices available in the market, some of the popular ones are: polystyrene, polycarbonate, fiberglass and carbon fiber. The type of material used in the helicopter affects the durability and weight of the helicopter to a great extent. Similarly, the price of the RC helicopter can vary a lot depending on the material you choose to go for. Helicopters made with Polycarbonate and Polystyrene is the cheapest options available today. Whereas Fiber Glass helicopters provide the maximum durability but are the heaviest options among all of them. This makes them the more costly solutions as well. Similarly carbon fiber helicopters are quite costly as well, but provide much more durability.

Price Of The Helicopter

Though the price of the helicopter depends greatly on how you go about choosing the above 4 options, it is advisable to do a proper research to find the best deal possible keeping all your requirements in mind.

Conclusion

The above 5 considerations are the key to buying the best RC helicopter within your budget. However the first preference should be to put your focus on buying a durable and everlasting helicopter to ensure that your money is not wasted.

Your first helicopter (or two, or three...) will almost certainly get augered in within a few hours. Learn the fundamentals on inexpensive models, and work up to better equipment if the joy is there for you. Why spend several hundred dollar$ only to discover you have no real interest in this hobby?

I didn't see anything about training in the article.

But, there was a training arm you can put on the RC helicopter so you at least learn the feel of the controls. A wise purchase that will save you from destroy you $$$$$$$ RC helicopter.

Yep. My brother was into them big time. I was over at his place one day when he got a brand new high end one put together. As I understood it he did not calibrate the controller to match the throttle on the helicopter.

First flight was in the garage wide open right into the fluorescent lights followed by bouncing across the floor jumping from side to side and ending in lots of expensive little bits of broken RC helicopter scattered all over!

I learned that when you get a brand new RC helicopter you should strap it down before turning it on and setting the controls.

I've got one of those toy, battery-powered helicopters. I'm thinking of getting one of those lightweight video cameras that carries its own battery and SD card, and using it to inspect the gutters on my house. Save me from dragging out the ladder.

Might be useful too for peeking over the fence at my new neighbor.

Those are realatively cheap.......

I was in a Good Will store, last February and they had a RC plane with the camera, for about $29.00.

It was fun.

Oh yeah, I broke the nose off when I flew it into the ground....... It flys a lot slower now. ;)

It is better to make RC helicopter ourselves using a 3D printer rather than buy one.

Then we can make RC helicopter any shape as we like. Isn't it that very charming?

I've truly bought a type of model, battery-powered helicopters. Now i am thinking of getting a type of light in weight video cameras of which provides its very own power supply in addition to Facts, in addition to using it to help scrutinize this gutters with my house. Spend less everyone by pulling available this hierarchy.
