Boss:(pulling at hair)... I can't believe the way you wired this!? ... It makes no sense!? We didn't hire you to put together a system that nobody can understand!?

Network engineer: (sipping coffee) what? No way. .. Did you not notice the group color coding? Once you know the color code it all makes perfect sense.

It's not going to work. He's crossed the two purple wires on the seventh row down right hand side. Any half competent computer hardware engineer can see that just from looking at the photograph.

Now that we've achieved our goal - the paperless office, we have a new goal - the wireless office. Goeff, in particular, will need to put in some effort.

How it usually goes:

Picture - during system wiring.

"Don't worry boss - once we get it debugged, we'll straighten up this wiring mess - you'll see."

Same picture - 5 years later.

Most definitely the back. Had a complete Pioneer rack system. Cost me a pretty penny but when you are young and unattached with a good job you spend money. I finally sold the last of it last year. Got more for it than I paid back in 77. Who knew vintage stereo equipment would be popular again.

So after 3 weeks work the system isn't working ?

Well the cable supplier just rang and of those 3000 CAT5 straight through 568B cables you ordered one of them was labelled incorrectly and you actually have one 568A crossover cable.

Can you find which one it is please ?
