This is why I never read instructions! But on the plus side, it's probably easier to hammer in a screw than to screw in a nail...

I think it’s a test, to see who really read instructions... you just passed.

The manufacturer got too many complaints with the hammer screws....couldn't get them in without breaking the glass...

...unfortunately they already had 2 million packages with the original instructions...

....why a claw hammer?

Is it to test the strength of the bracket - to see if will pull off?

Why a claw hammer you ask, it’s when a screw driver just wouldn’t do.

If your only tool is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail.

I need a Left-Handed screw-hammer?!

Well, it looks like I need to make another trip to the big box hardware store. I'd better pick up a new table saw while I'm there.

You know, just in case.

Re: Caption This for 7/13/2018 ASIS Caveat Emptor

ASIS Caveat Emptor and PPP's yield $$$'s

Yep, he flunked out of shop class. However, he passed the legal ethics exam for the bar by "borrowing" an essay entitled "How to use the ASIS Warranty to avoid product liability !" He then went right to the top of his law school class by plagiarizing the same essay for many of his class assignments. He actually instigated the ASIS warranty under the picture of the hammer as a kind of anti-consumer sick humor early in his career. He now haunts the back rooms of the deep state, pulling down a tax payer funded, seven figure, yearly income word crafting unearned immunities(de facto titles of nobility) like Political Papal Pardons for evil minions of well known political figures.

Using a hammer correctly is a round about way of doing the job. Please read the instructs, as other alternatives are available.

Use the right tool for the right job. Those adjustable Crescent-hammers are more versatile/handy.

But then again, when all else fails, beat your head against the wall; no tools required.

It’s one of those multi-tools,.. you see the screw driver was being used on something else as a pry bar to pry the lid of something.

Don't hold the screws with your fingers while hammering them - you could screw up your fingers.

Using a hammer is a good idea for the first couple of threads. It gets the screw located and held in the right place, and then a screwdriver to drive the screw fully home.

But what are these brackets used for?

Hi Horace,

They are picture hangers, they go on the back of a picture frame to allow it to be centred on a screw in the wall so it will hang straight.

Pozidriv. If you twist the head off of the screw it becomes a finishing screw but if you are lucky the last thread will still catch the teeth on the bracket. If it doesn't catch, just use the helix nail set to drive the rest into the wall.

The only problem I can see is the instructions should remind people to use a large hammer when driving patent grippy nails.
